Waste Oil Regulations
England
Waste oil tanks do not come under the scope of The Control of Pollution ( Oil Storage) ( England) Regulations 2001. However best practice and our strong recommendation is that all tanks should have secondary containment.
Northern Ireland
Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 replicate English regulations.
Scotland
Waste oil comes under the scope of The Water Environment (Controlled Activities) (Scotland) Regulations 2011 and as such all tanks must have secondary containment.
Wales
The Water Resources (Control of Pollution) (Oil Storage) (Wales) Regulations 2016 came into force on 15th March 2018 for any tanks in which oil is being stored on 15th March 2016.
